Dear visitor, this site, former member of the fan-arts.net family, had to be closed for following reasons:
The user of "papersweets.fan-arts.net" hosted imgages/artwork belonging to shutterstock.com, which were stripped off their copyright marks.
She claimed these to be her own and claimed she held the copyrights. We were contacted by shutterstock.com representatives which rightfully demanded the closing of this site. After explaining that fan-arts.net was merely a webspace provider that had no influence on the material shown, shutterstocks.com agreed to "let us off the hook" if we published a note stating why this site was shut down for others to understand that this is not an acceptable behaviour - and we totally agree.
Our words to shutterstock.com and anybody else who was affected by these actions:
"We are sorry for this behaviour of one of our hostees. This incident will most likely lead to more strict hosting terms of use. We do not condone copyright infringement and will support every rightful claim of copyright owners - all we ask for is that you contact us first, the lawyers later."
(This incident caught us by surprise-expect a better looking version of this statement soon)
